As per the title suggests, I have recently switched from a Gigabyte Z170X Designare motherboard to an Asus Prime Z370-a aswell as swapping from an i7-6700k CPU to an i7-8700k. Not soon after this switch, I was informed that my microphone gave out constant static and cracking noises, Prior to the switch, my audio had sounded crisp, so I know the problem does not lie with the microphone. And tips or thoughts on how to fix this, or what the problem may be?

Spec List:
Asus Prime Z370-A
i7 8700k
Asus Strix GTX 1080
16 GB Corsaire Vengeance Ram

I had same problem with asrock z270 extreme 4 + static noise and now i buy asus z270-a prime ,today i will test the motherboard..
After i read your problem i think i made a bad decision to buy asus :(.
I try update bios , reinstall drivers ,reinstall OS ,swap from windows 7 to 10 ,change PSU ,i end buy a new case .
I hate asrock now because they don t help me with a RMA and don t check the motherboard for fault audio .
I lose some money but never in my life i will buy from this company

Apologies for my poor skill language ,i try to use google spellcheck at my best ...
