After unmuting and muting a few times in Discord, mic stops working

Hi there. I have a Floureon BM-800, not the best condenser mic but it was $30 and well worth the price. I have a power supply for the mic as well as suggested by many so the mic has enough power.

My problem is in Discord, messing with some friends, unmuting my mic and then remuting it right afterwords sometimes causes my microphone to stop working. In the Discord sound menu there is no input coming through. Other times it just stops working out of no where as well.

The mic is still on and working though, I can hear myself through the playback option, it just doesn't go through Windows or any application. It's like it thinks it's still muted.

Is this a discord problem or driver issue? I'm pretty tired of restarting my PC when my mic randomly stops working. Help is appreciated 😀

Solution
My thought is to set up some other test(s) without Discord and do some muting and unmuting. See if the microphone stops working. Then the suspect would be the audio drivers. Update/reinstall as necessary.

If the microphone continues to work then Discord would be suspect. Likewise update/reinstall.

The objective is to narrow down, by elimination, the source of or reason for the microphone's stopping.

You might also find a clue in the Event Viewer logs. Look for some audio or Discord related process or service that stops (or possibly starts) just before or at the time of the microphone going dead.

Could be the supporting software is a bit buggy and cannot handle multiple/sequential series of mutes and unmutes. Some interim...

Could be the supporting software is a bit buggy and cannot handle multiple/sequential series of mutes and unmutes. Some interim step gets bypassed and there is no way to get the mic live again without a restart.

Check the websites for the mic and Discord. May find some related FAQs or forum comments discussing the problem.

Good ideas, thanks Ralston! I'll see if I can reproduce the problem.
