Question After update, Files Explorer no longer remembers searches

For as long as I can remember, whenever I clicked in the search field of Windows Explorer, the previous three searches would appear just below the field, making it easy to repeat a search.

After an update the other day, this feature has vanished. Every search has to be entered from scratch. Yes, I realize I can use CTRL-C or simply learn to love the loss; however . . . .

Is there any known way to turn this back on, short of reinstalling Windows 10? I tried searching for an answer, but everything revolves around Windows 11, now, and none of those procedures helped.

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

What version(not edition) of Windows 10 are you on? You could simply try and perform a system restore prior to the update.

See if this guide helps you out;

Alas, I keep forgetting to mention I'm on Windows 10 Pro.

That worked out great, Lutfij! The search suggestions reappeared the moment I disabled Turn off display of recent search entries in the File Explorer sear box in gpedit.msc.

Your guide did not appear in my online searching. Most everything I saw was either written by a bot or trying to get me to install third party software to "fix" the problem.

Thanks!
