Hi guys, i currently own this pc:

specs
E5200 Dual Core 2.5ghz
dg35ec Intel m/b
4gb ram.
nvidia geforce gt 9400
windows 10
450 watt power supply.

and i got my hands on a tested (supposedly working) intel q9400 cpu, my plans were to switch it with my old e5200 so i did this:
I turn off the pc, remove power cable, remove other cables, unplug the fan that is over the cpu, remove the e5200 from the socket, apply some thermal paste to the new cpu (just a drop), secure good the new cpu, plug the fan, attach it, secure it, everything normal, plug the cables and thats it; when i turn on the pc, first weird thing, no bios intel splash on the startup, ok, windows loads (little circle white dots moving telling me its loading), i sign in and everything is ok, even surf the web a little bit; so, i restart the pc just to see if everything is going ok, and the bios splash screen didnt showd up again and then the windows icon (the blue one, for the ones who know about w10) appears, but not the white circle dots moving around; ive been looking around for what the problem is but cant catch up with the answer; i dont think the cpu is dead cause the w10 blue icon appears but idk; a little help here? please.

my bios is 0118, should support the q9400 since the 0072

when i do everything again but changing to my old e5200 again everything works flawlessly as always, (im writing from this pc right now)

obviously english its not my main language so be kind please

UPDATE 1
i tried to downgrade the bios but that didnt work

UPDATE 2
when i insert a cd with the q9400 i manage to get the bios screen and also get into it, the hardware monitoring in the bios throws me an amazing procesor temperature of 102`C... also, que bios says what is the cpu clock speed but doesnt say its name as it does with the e5200... still cant make the q9400 work

Ok, I'm trying something, I did a downgrade of the bios from 0118 to 0072 (the minimun required by the mobo to run the new cpu q9400), so, in the first boot, the bios screen appeared and windows boot up perfectly; now I got to restart the system and I dont want to, really afraid that it'll make the same as the last time and dont boot anymore with this cpu; I'll keep in touch

@robcrezz @countmike ok the bios downgrade didnt work, but again, the maching starts up only when ive just retired the old e5200 and attached the new q9400, it signs in and works pretty well, but when i restart the machine it doesnt boot anymore

how is it possible that the bios tells me the temperature is 102C as i just attached the new cpu? thats physically imposible, it cant heat up that much in so little time

It is possible if the cpu cooler isnt mounted correctly.

Older cpus, but shows how quick a cpu can heat when the cooler is removed, they go over 200'c within seconds when under load

Ok idk what is going on here, i got a borrowed e5300 (not e5200) and when I put It in the socket I get the same result as I do with the q9400, hardware monitoring showing steady 102c and windows not booting up, I'm sure that I am attaching the fan good cause when I plug the e5200 everything works fine, others processors doesn't work ?
