As I stated in my previous post, I'm no longer interested in D2 and as such I would like for someone
to take over the operation of the AGD Bot. I will keep it up until Jan. 15th, if no one takes it
over at that time, I will be shutting it down.
Anyone with an always on connection who would like to take it over can email me at:
steellord_gm@yahoo.com for the relevant components for the bot.

Not quite, I'm burned out on D2. I'm playing Sacred while wagerly awaiting the release of Guild
Wars.

One of us now. 🙂

It's buggy but fun. Are you playing SP or MP?

If you need to email, then chainbreaker (naturally) at comcast dot
net--that's "net" not "com"--should do it.

I'm playing HC MP mainly, but have also just completed the campaign quests with a Wood Elf.
I've got a HC Battlemage up to level 65 and I've also started a HC Wood Elf.

I think the original point kinda got lost in the Sacred thread.

I have a cable connection and I can keep my computer on and connected
to Bnet if necessary. What I would like to know is if there is a need
for a bot. What exactly does the bot do other than keep track of all
players online at the moment? What does everyone else here think? Do
we need a bot to keep track of players? If the responses are positive
then I will do it and host the bot. All in favor say Aye!

Desperate for what? I play SP or with Tito on a LAN (or with my sister
on open ascaron.net). I'm not trolling for other players as I don't even
have enough free time to play with the two people I play with now (and I
could always tap Deskboy). I was simply curious. 😛

Incidentally, I think SvH may like Sacred more than WoW given the
reasons he gave for quitting WoW so long as he works out the
attribute/skill point/combat arts assignment when building characters
(which is quite different than Diablo).

Joke, joke . . . 🙂

If I hadn't bit on Sacred early I might have been able to get a lot more out
of it. As it is, there's enough of the "bad" Sacred I played still rearing
its ugly head to keep me from sticking with it long enough to get to the
meat of the improvements they've evidently made.

The foundation of a good game was definitely there, and I think more of it
could have been put on the table to begin if Ascaron had had it in them to
concentrate on the *game* first, rather than their ill-conceived and
presented multiplayer system.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. 🙂

My my, doesn't Alan Ladd <OnlyALadd68@SPAMyahoo.com> look good in that
trenchcoat:

The PCA channel bots had two purposes -

(A) To display a list of agd players online (it was somewhat more up to date
in that regard than the PCM bot in recent times, until I lost interest in
maintaining the database a few weeks back). Useful for finding someone to
help you with something if there's no one around in the regular agd games.

(B) Allow the bot masters to send global announcements to all agd players
online, such as 'yard sale on NOW in XYZ' or 'cow/baal runs starting now in
XYZ'. But I haven't really had a need to use that command recently, which
means the core purpose of the bot is currently (A) at the moment.

And I'm glad you guys are enjoying WoW. 🙂

I'm not sure if I'll taste WoW or not should it become available to me
(being in Asia, it's off the plate until Blizzard is ready to allow
Asian players in). Somehow, I doubt I'll do it because I'm trying to be
careful with expenses and I'm concerned that, if I love it, I'll be on
the hook for a long time. 😛
