Age of Mythology on steam question

I heard AOM is coming out on steam, and was wondering if I will be able to get a free copy since I have the original AOM gold edition that comes with all the expansions from 2004. If I enter the product key into steam will it count as a purchase? I already tried and it didn't recognize it, but maybe that's because the game didn't come out yet?

It wont work, your key is way-outdated, and the new game coming out on steam is probably a variation of that form 2004. My advice is to just wait and purchase the game.
