Age Of Mythology Won't Run On Windows 8.1

This disk worked great on Windows XP, but will not play on Windows 8.1. What can I do?

You could use Steam and download it through them. Windows has reached the point where those older games are no longer supported.

I did join Steam, although I really don't know what they do. Posting a question on their webpage was so difficult I gave up. Would I have to buy the game through them to download it?

Yes, you would. It's pretty cheap. You can get it for about $30 right now.

Okay. So, there is no fix to getting the disk I have to play?

Your game disc won't work until Microsoft supports Age of Mythology passed Windows 7. Until then (if that ever happens) you will have to play the game through a client like Steam.
