I have a older system i would like to upgrade, heres the specs:
2.4Ghz P4 S478
DVD ROM / Burner
400W Corsair PSU
1GB DDR RAM
500gb HDD
What would be a wiser upgrade? a Asus HD 3450 AGP with a 64-bit bus, 256MB memory or a HD 3650 from HIS Tech with 128-bit bus and 512MB AGP?

Its mainly for games like COD4 (Not on high res.) and watching a ton of HD content lol :kaola: .

But with a HD 3450 lol, i doubt it could run it. Random but can a VGA monitor with a res. of 2048 x 1536 watch 1080p?

I've seen some of the benchmarks that tomshardware have done and the HD 3450 looks really bad on some games like Crysis, scoring a feeble 3.80FPS lol. What you think of the HD 2400Pro? Is it worse than the 3450?

I think i'm gonna keep this PC as a media center and a small gaming machine, yes 2900XT's are very hard to find in my city, so with a 2400Pro or HD3450 the 3450 would be a better choice right?

Ummmmmmmmm 2900XTs are only PCI-E. I think he meant to say the 1900 series cards. Well the best AGP card is the 3850, but honestly your CPU would hold it back so much it may not be worth it. Then again if you could overclock your CPU (at least to 3.0 which is possible if it's a 2.4 c with HT and the 800MHz FSB) it may be a different story. A 3650 would be fine for you. The 2600XT is a little faster though.

Thanks I'm prolly gonna get the 3450 because i don't want my CPU to hold me back and bottleneck it. The CPU is a S478 P4 2.4Ghz 533Mhz FSB, no HT. Does anyone know how to overclock these? My motherboards overclocking function is disabled.
