ii am still wanting to build a new system but can't because of not having the money to do it anymore. here is my system: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @2.13ghz 768mb RAM AGP 4x. I want something that won't bottleneck the 4x agp so price probably isn't a concern because of the 4x agp. is this a good card to buy then unlock the pixel pipelines and vertex shaders, some people are getting it from 8/3 to 16/6?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814141060
any other cards to recommend for my system please advise?
this is kindof a repost, sorry guys but i am not building that new system for a while. need advise again on current system.

Depending on the games your playing and what graphics card you currently have really dictate whether or not your just going to be throwing away money you could be saving. So post what card or integrated chip you have and what games you play. I say this because a lot of games could see large improvements with a new processor and more ram while netting only a few more fps with a new card.

The 6800 XE is a terrible deal because there's a good chance the pipelines won't unlock, and if they don't you have a terrible card.

If you want a deal, grab a used AGP 7800 GS or 7600 GT on ebay. At least there's no gamble as to how much performance the card will have.

Of course, buy from a reputable seller so there's no gamble the card is dead...

I have an ATI 9600 SE 64 bit overclocked to 376/core and 246/mem putting out 41fps on ATI tool. I have also read of driver troubles with the 2600 XT with the agp slot, what can i expect with this issue as i prefer ATI. is the 1950 GT worth the money??

From what I hear, to solve the 2600 XT on AGP problems, all you need to do is download Omega drivers.

The 1950 GT might be worth the money... how much is the one you found?
