Hi,

I recently got a 9200SE Sapphire Radeon card and an Asus A7N8X Deluxe board
with the lot.

With the latest ATI drivers, I want to enable 8x AGP, it asks to reboot, but
when it comes back, AGP is set to OFF 🙁

In fact, I've never seen it display AGP being set to anything other than
OFF, not 1x, 2x, 4x, or even 8x.

I've looked into the BIOS and 8x AGP is enabled.

So, what's up with my computer?
There's no jumpers on the board/card to enable / disable AGP, so are the ATI
drivers buggy?
The led status indicator on the Mobo for AGP is not on, indicating there is
NO problem with my AGP card (yes, have tried re-seating the card) ....

Anyone?....

Frustrated,

Andrew

Try going into the bios at boot and making sure that 8x is enabled there

I just went through the same thing with my 9800 after installing a new
drive and reinstalling XP. What I had to do was go to the Intel site and get
the lastest AGP drivers for my chipset. After installing them, everything
worked fine.

I have a shuttle AN35N motherboard / club 3d 9200se and I have problems with
the agp acceleration too. When it is enabled, the textures on the direct x
cube (while running dx 7 3d test) become garbled..

I tried installing old drivers, trying different agp acceleration settings..
Everything.. Finally I just turned the fast writes off.. Surprisingly there
does not seem to be any huge performance drop and the texture garbling goes
away..

i've got the same problem.
cause fast writes are off games like unreal 2 don't work properly

i checked the fast writes compatibility of board and card
with a software shipped with my elitegroup L7s7a2 mainboard,
and it says compatible
so
I think ati did this in the drivers for selling high end video cards.

thre is actually no work around for "Smartgart"!
