Thx.

Ordered a Hitachi 160GB 8mb 7200 SATA2 drive, is SATA2 required on the controller too? Cant see anything suggesting this board is SATA2?

Not required. It'll just run in SATA if SATA2 isn't there. Not that SATA2 actually does much anyway.

Well, I'll start geting excited when they start making drives actually capable of delivering anything near that... Until then, whats the point in the new standards anyway?

And Geeky? Don't forget who actually sat down and worked out how close to the speed of sound the edge of a HDD platter would be moving at 50,000RPM...

*crowns self uber-geek*

Just ordered the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum £74.
Already ordered an additional 1gb of Geil Dual Channel 2 x 512mb PC3200 to give a total of 2gb.
Running my X800 XT PE x8AGP in this machine now.
Ordered the SATA2 160gb drive to replace ATA133 40gb.

Will most likely go for the 90nm AMD 4000+ but will wait for next price drop as currently £260.

Hopefully will get a nice little boost!?!

ok lets get back on topic, mobos :)

Looks like I'm leaning on the EP-9NDA3+

Any advice on which RAM runs best on it? I want to get 2GB, whether it is 4x512 or 2x1024 doesnt matter, because by the time I want to upgrade my RAM, I'll probably be building a new computer with DDR2. Looking to spend around $400

1) Crucial Ballistix Dual Channel 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (2x 512MB) x2

2) OCZ EL Dual Channel 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Platinum Memory (2 x 512MB) x2

3) Corsair Dual Channel 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL2 Memory (2 x 1024MB)

4) OCZ EL Dual Channel 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Titanium Memory (2 x 1024MB)

None of the above?

Whichever you choose, don't go with the 4X512 - you will hurt performance. #4 looks ok - do you have a link?

That was a complete ripoff for that RAM. <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227056" target="_new">Newegg</A>

This set of <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227210" target="_new">OCZ</A> should be good enough for you.

I just upgraded and a key point was keeping my AGP graphics card. Currently I have been running for little over a month the following setup:
ASUS A8V Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
1024 MB DDRAM
ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 XT

I love it. Message me if you have any questions.
