agp question

if you change your agp from 1x to 2x should the video card preform better (i.e. more frames per second)? if it doesnt what could be the problem?

AGP 1x runs at the same Mhz as PCI I believe....66mhz?

AGP runs at 66mhz and pci is 33mhz.

the problem is that i get less performance out of the card at 2x. i didnt expect much of a change but i definantly didnt expect it to get worse. any reason for this.

i get like 20 less fps when i switch from agp 1x to agp 2x. could this be because i dont have a big enough power supply. i have two hard drives, two cd roms, a radeon 8500, network card, ata controller card, sound card,and an 800mhz athlon, and like 4 fans all on a 200W max power supply

Radeon8500? it's best to run it at AGP4X
but AGP2X should offers more than AGP1X..did you install AGP driver?

i wish i could run at 4x but my mb only goes to 2x. yes i installed agp driver. i think it is my power supply though. got another post on this forum sayin i should have a 350W ps.
