Hello everyone,

I have a Radeon 32M Video card on the ASUS CUSL2 Motherboard. When I run the WCPUID program (or SiSoft Sandra program), it tells me that my graphic card is currently running on 2x mode. How can I set this card to run on 4X mode? I changed the setting in BIOS to 4x, but it still show 2X when I run the above mentioned programs. Please help!

Thanks!
Mike

The CUSL2 kicks down to 2x when you overclock beyond a certain point. There are several solutions for this.
1.) The best solution is to set your bus speeds at 133/133/33 MHz. That will put your AGP back at 66MHz, and give you 4x back. You may need to raise the voltage to 1.75v to achieve this. If your RAM cannot handle 133, you can use the 133/100/33 setting instead.
2.) I have a file that reenables 4x in Windows. It modifies the registry. If you want it I can email it to you. You won't need this if you plan to follow suggestion 1.
3.) You can also perform the registry hacks manually, but this is not advised for ordinary people.

Thank you for your reply. Please email that program to me at mkn100@hotmail.com. I don't think I can use option 1 because raising the bus up to 133 mhz could be too much for my system and it could burn out my cpu. I also don't have the 133/100/33 option on my motherboard. Thank you in advance! by the way, do you know how much improvement from 2x to 4x AGP?
Thanks again

I sent you the stuff. BTW, if you are using Asus Probe v2.12.07, you can keep track of CPU temp accurately. You will not burn out your CPU because the system will lock at about 55C! Intel uses thermal protection! You will be MUCH farther ahead to use the 133/133/33 setting. I have mine set that way right now with the big Intel OEM cooler in a closed case in an 84F room! Your cards will also be much happier as it will return them to normall bus speeds.

You get that much increase?

On my Duron/KT7 system with a VisionTek Geforce SDR my 3D Mark 2000 score went from 5529 to 5549 switching from 2X to 4X (with no other changes). That's less than 1/2 of 1 percent, 0.36% to be exact. Not even worth thinking about, especially on those systems that aren't stable at 4x.

Thank you very much for the program, Crashman! It runs on 4x now. I will run the 3d mark tonight and i will post the result... just to see how much improvement I get.
