AHCI on AM2+ Mobo with AM2 CPU

Does ACHI mode work if you plug an am2 cpu (AMD Athlon 6400+) into an AM2+ motherboard? or does it have not work. just want to be sure before i open the motherboard so i cant return it.

It is a chip set feature and should be present on a AM2+ board which is not that old.

+1 AHCI is dependant on the mobo's chipset and not the cpu.
