Ahem, where can I jumpstart my rig on a MSI Global H81M-E33?

I can't find the jumper setting and would love to start it outside of the case

You use an external momentary switch wired to the power switch pins (page 12 of that online manual).

They make external pc switch buttons but you can use any momentary switch.

Wiring polarity (which wire) does not matter as all the switch does is allows voltage to pass from one side to the other.

You can actually use a screwdriver blade across the power switch pins on the motherboard to make a momentary contact.

If you crossed the wrong pins with the screwdriver, then that could have caused a problem with your board.

I have used screwdrivers to test motherboards plenty of times
(I now use a replacement PC button as an external switch instead of a screwdriver)

And now I get "USB device over current status detected will shut down in 15 seconds". Arg. I put two keyboards in, nothing else. Now I remove them and the message still torments me. I am just lucky today.

look at your usb ports to see if one of the outside pins is bent & touching the metal casing of the usb port.
