AICmicro.com--my response is to be EXTREMELY careful. This company/person may be trying to confuse people with the more reputable ACMicro.com, which has good ratings. If you can't find any ratings for a company, generally it's a good idea to take your business elsewhere. That's what I do.
As for 90% of companies having bad records, I don't know if they're any worse than the retail market. When you get good service (like in the retail market) you have to deal with salespeople who lie and cheat to make commission. Your products will be stellar, but is that the same product they promised (or is it some crap rip-off that barely fits into what's legally allowed in your state making it impossible for you to prosecute)? I buy components online because I don't want to be scammed about how fast a computer is based purely on processor speed. No I want good memory CL 2, a good chipset, I want to support fairness by refusing to buy from companies that bully others and cheat. So there are bad sides to both oem and retail.
The sad thing is that if none of us ever got cheated or scammed, or it happened rarely (like 5%) then capitalism wouldn't work. Customers are there to be cheated. For me, I'm going to have no more than 1 credit card at all times, and I won't use one if they charge a monthly fee. For the rest I'll just use a check card. I will invest in the stock market long term only, and have someone else manage it for me. I'll never gamble or go to a casino, because you never make money there, only lose it. I'll save up lots of money and avoid fancy gimmicks. Commercials use neuro-associative conditioning to make you buy products, so I won't pay attention to them and will refuse to buy products that have been heavily advertised. Am I cheap? Hell yeah. But I never get ripped off.
