I just got a new Dell laptop with XP SP2. I am trying to assign full
read/write/execute permissions to a file. There are sharing and
security options, but none that give the ability to change read/ write,
etc. I know that such permissions were once there, especially on
Windows NT and 2000. Now there is no security tab on the file. Can I get
back to the normal security tab which allowed me to change permissions?
It should not matter if it is a Word document, picture, etc. In my case
it will be a .php file. Please do not flame or spam me.

Thanks,

If it is XP pro that you have: Explorer|Tools|Folder Option|View| uncheck
'use simple file sharing'
If it is XP Home, do the same in safe mode.
(spam will follow if you supplied correct e-mail address)
