Want to put a Promise Ultra100TX2 standard IDE controller card into an
Aopen AK86-L motherboard.

Don't have any SATA drives, and I want a little more flexibility in
mounting hard drives and optical drives.

Vaguely recall issues with which ide slot the card goes in so it
doesn't have conflicts with other motherboard based ide components.

Anyone suggest slots to use or avoid ?

Its usually good practice to keep as many open slots between cards as
possible. I really dont think it is as much of an issue anymore with XP and
the newer releases of Linux. Also, the motherboard drivers have improved to
reduce IRQ conflicts.
