Alfa AWUS036NHR running really slow

Hi I bought this adapter for work, I use win7 and I also use it for linux. I installed the drivers and everything and and my download speeds are really slow, the fastest I can go is a about 500kbps on a 60meg internet connection. I know it isn't a driver issue or an actual issue with the device itself. I think it just needs some special configuration changes.

Okay a few questions:

What is your Router / Modem?
Is your Router dual band?
How far are you away from your Router?
What channel are you using in your router?

Just a few things to note here:

Since the adapter is 802.11 b/g/n it only supports the 2.4 GHz band. As you may or may not know the 2.4 GHz band is subject to a lot of interference therefore it may be the cause of the slow internet connection
