So I'm in a bit of a pickle right now with my Alienware 17 R3... It came with Win10 from Dell, I really couldn't stand Win10 so I ended up reformatting the harddrive and installed a fresh copy of Win7. Everything went fine until I needed to update the computer's devices.

It came up a bunch of devices that weren't updating on it's own. Two of the important ones is the USB and Network Drivers (wired and wireless). I've tried a dozen drivers that win7 provides and no luck.

Anyone else have had this issue with their Alienware? It doesn't have a dvd drive fyi. Now I did uninstall the hard drive and connected it to my desktop, but for some reason the files were corrupted and wouldn't install when I put the harddrive back in the laptop.

I haven't been this stumped in a long time. any help is appreciated

As I am sure you already know, there are only official drivers for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 for the R3. I would check to see exactly what devices are used and see if you can find Windows 7 drivers available for the R2 if the device is the same, if not it probably will not work unless you can get a driver directly from the specific device maker (like Intel).

You can slipstream the USB 3 drivers into your Windows 7 installer and there are a number of guides on doing that, which is not too difficult. You can use THIS USB 3 driver with Windows 7 on the R3.

You can use Rufus to make the installer stick once you have the slipstreamed ISO made.

Also, note that you will have to disable secure boot and switch to the legacy...
