Alienware 17 r4 4k resolution

It's kind of hard to tell from such images how bad it might be, and some of that might be reflections from other lighting in the room as well. I was just pointing out that while there is probably some amount of blacklight bleed, the images are likely making it look worse than it is.

A quick search did turn up that a number of people were reporting such issues with the Alienware R3 and R4 laptops though, and at least some amount of backlight bleed seems to be common on these systems. See this thread for example...

Still need Need the make/model and/or the serial of the device.

Alienware just like every other vendor will release different gens of their systems. Sometimes with comparable specs of the last gen. We need to know correct info to pull up the exact system to give you a better idea.

If I had to guess it would be this.

But if we had the serial. We could pull it up on their website and drill deeper down into components properly.

Just looking at the picture, sure, there appears to be a bit of backlight bleed and IPS glow visible, but that is a nearly solid black screen, which would be the worst-case scenario for that. It's also difficult to say what the lighting conditions were like when that image was taken, but I imagine the screen would look quite a bit better in person. You can tell by the glowing icons that the image was overexposed, so the camera was likely compensating for dim lighting in the room, making the black screen appear much brighter than it would appear in person, blowing out the highlights and exaggerating the glow compared to how it really appears.

There is a fix mentioned in that thread that some used to clear up much of the backlight bleed though, which involves opening the back of the panel and removing some strips of foam to alleviate pressure on the panel. That would be a rather invasive procedure though, and you could potentially damage something in the process.
