So this is a strange thing that happened. One day my Alienware laptop failed to boot. It is in a raid1 configuration with 2 PCIE M.2s…

I finally got around to buying a new m.2 and inStalled windows 10 on it and got the thing to boot up.

I purchased an external PCIE drive because the current max m.2 slots for this laptop are only 2 so I made it 3 with this external guy.
I got it actually to show all the hard drives on the disk management page… is it possible to save my data?

if so how would I go about this
More details
New SSD is in slot 1 of the laptop.. put one of the old ones inside and one in the external bit
Was debating trying to run windows repair on it with both inside to see if that would work? Or can I do something in the current format…

thanks sorry if my wording is bad English bad

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

RAID 1 is a mirrored array, if you copy over data from one of the original 2 SSD's, you have the same data that was on the other. Unless you're stating another RAID number...?
How would I copy over the data when I look at it it’s in RAW format and says it can’t be looked at in disk management is there something I’m not doing correctly? Says it’s 100% useable (or no data used) asks me to format

Can you go into BIOS for your laptop and see what you're storage controller is set to? Did you recreate the RAID array after the prior one was dismantled? I think you're trying to refer to a RAID 0 array.
No no this is a raid 1

the Alienware laptops come configured this way and it is more prone to data loss is my understanding if one fails they both fail.
I’m not sure if windows was corrupt or what but it wouldn’t let me get past the boot screen no matter what I tried. Right now I don’t have any raid set up.

the problem is I can’t recreate a raid 1 without having the other m.2 inside the laptop it doesn’t let me use external ones in bios.

should I put the original m2 s back inside and try to run a windows repair from the usb?
(It’s not a back up just windows installation from the website)

I did RAID 1 in 2009, back then when I dismantled my array, I found data on both drives to be as is.

My question is, if you don't have anything of value on the SSD's, why not use them as standalone drives? You'd be extracting the most space and speed out of having two drives. One SSD for the OS and app's while the other SSD is for storage or act as a game library.

i do have things of value that is the point of this post. I need to restore things off the raid1 drives. But I cannot access them anymore because it asks me to format them.

is there some way I can get information off of them?

i tried one program called EASEUS or something like that it shows me partial stuff I have on the drive but because it was in raid1 (and it’s only checking one drive at a time) some pictures come broken or in different percentages… is there a way I can put them in raid1 to recover this data using software or something else I can do to recover the full pictures ? Some of the pictures are ok some are not this is the problem. (Because I can only scan one drive at a time to my knowledge instead of having them in a raid1 configuration)
