Alienware has HIGH ram usage.

Alienware M14x has HIGH ram usage after reapplying some thermal paste to the CPU & GPU. My computer was normal before, and now the RAM usage hovers around 80-90%. Perhaps I placed the memory wrong, because I don't understand how this happened. Another thing is that my CPU usage is low as well. Is this normal? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm worried that I may have done irreversible damage to my laptop.

EDIT: RAM usage had to gone down as is hovering around 60%. Is this still bad?

Is that because now you only have 4gb ram because you bumped one of the sticks when you refitted the CPU cooler?

Check in Task Manager how many GB you have against how much was put in your PC.

It says when I check in the systems the amount of ram currently installed was 2GB. So is it possible that one of the ram sticks wasn't installed properly? Because I had more ram before I cleaned (6 or 4 GB, I don't remember). Hopefully one of the ram slots isn't broken.

EDIT: Checked performance under task manager and it said that memory was 1.44GB.

Pull out each stick and carefully put it back in its slot.

Oh yeah, before when I reinstalled the memory and started the laptop and it made a 4-Beep indicating a memory problem. I switched around the memory sticks and the laptop worked but now it's so sluggish. Does it matter where I place the ram?

Yes - put it back in the slots it was in when you bought it.

OK. So I took out the ram and placed it back it in the default spots, and now it works perfectly! 6 GB of ram is showing up instead of 2 in the system and on task manager. Thank you for the help!
