Alienware M14x Nvidia Graphics Card issue.

Hi guys is there a way to check if my graphics card has failed?

I recently purchased a used alienware M14x laptop on kijiji and I was positive when I checked if everything matched the add that I found the Nvidia 3gb Graphics card (I think it was like a gt 550M or something like that)

It doesn't display though on the device manager now and if I try open the Nvidia Control Panel I get an error message stating: "An NVIDIA graphics card was not detected in your system."

I am wondering if it ever was installed or if I burned it. Right now the only device that is enabled under display adapters is Intel HD Graphics 3000.

I would really appreciate some advice as I'm really tight on cash and would love to know if I can fix this at all.

Im afraid I don't know how. I am not very computer savy.

Hi again. So I went into the bios and it showed integrated graphics - intel
And than underneath it displayed Discrete Graphics nvidia gfx.
However they were both greyed out under the main tab.
Any idea what I should do about identifying and how to enable it?
