Alienware mx17 r2 has black screen at startup! help!

Ok, Ive got a Alienware mx17 r2 with the first i7(cheap one) and 4870's in crossfire. The thing has always got scorching hot and would turn off unless you cleaned it all the time and kept it directly infront of a fan. It started doing some weird screen flickering/freezing lately when movies were playing and would crash. Then one day it did it and at when turning back on the screen stays black but comes on and there is a very faint white flickering at the bottom of the screen.(i can take a picture if need be) It does not make any sounds or anything, it will just sit there. I noticed it wasnt making the sounds it makes when windows starts so i put the hard drive in my new Tower and it works fine.

Anyone had experience like this? Not sure if its Mobo or GPU or what?

i use to have an old m17x r2 and the dual setup is always producing more heat but not enough to actually kill the system.check your fan if its working.and did u overclock ur system?try running with built in integrated intel card.
