How much? Usually Alienware systems are rape you in the ass prices.

meh. looks like $5,800 from that article. i'd never consider an alienware, takes all the fun out of building (like a MAC  ) but, y'know, to each his own.

wait, Mac? huh? i was talking about APPLES

mah bad though. i beg forgiveness.

and when has alienware not been a glorified dell? i mean if you're buying a prebuilt then that pretty much takes ALL of the creativity out of it. its not like they can get BETTER components, per se.

you have to admit that the non-customizability is a drawback to MAKS

alien has fallen so far is it is so bad - they oc gaming leader of mainstream systems - reduced to a dell brand name

dell bought them and i think they dellinatored them!

$5500 for noisy low speed systems - its so easy to build nice cool running quiet systems these big manufactures dont get it.

dell totally messed the xps with over heating last year so they buy up alien and every review is bad or fair.

next is voodoo hp will mess them up

see my avatar its a koolance systems with the normal 2500 rpm fans replaces with lighted 1500 rpm - i added a second set of fans in a push pull configuration - runs very quiet and and 36 idel 50c max with a qx6700.

max temp is 55c in 85-95f room with 4 cores 100%

its not hard!

my mom oc her qx6700 to 3.4ghz

Before it got bought out last year.

i understand the subjectivity of your stance, but how have they really changed, other than the hands of the few that own them? last i checked they're still selling expensive computers in oddly shaped/colored cases... whats new?

it seems like they still fill the same niche to me.

Low-speed? Are you trying to be serious?

Just so you all know, Alienware products have hardly changed a bit since Alienware was bought by Dell.

what a piece over priced junk hows that! ya 3.2ghz is low for $5000+ 1 gtx computer.

o wait u get light software! wow u can buy $10 control that does that!

its loud - u spend $5000 and its loud? with 1 gtx? way over priced - that system is consistenly got low reviews

yes your right- exactly, alien products have not changed. mean while everything else is getting better alien is selling an inferior over priced computer - u be better served with a gateway and $2000 in your pocket!

with the $2000 u can get a nice dell xps lap top (if u need that 10 yr old alien looking case u can get a look a like for $100 and move the parts)

if u want an alien you can get one on ebay for half price, if your patient and u don't mind a slightly used loud computer

yeah that and you could build it yourself and have it just the way you like it :)

I always recomend build to own or have a friend or family member build for you ! (I build as many machines as I can for people usualy for no money lol)

Dell buying Alienware, I dont think it had too much to do with the drop in quality or spike in prices *if there was a spike* I think Alienware sold to Dell to avoid ye olde red ink... Always a tough market there... trying to convince people that a computer like a fast car can be bought...

The real problem is like this you pay tons of money for a fast car and it will stay fast for a reasonable amount of time (heck even a fast car from the 70's is still reasonably fast).
The computer end is totaly not the same... a fast computer from the 70's is considered a museum peice at best and scrap metal at worst.

I was gonna try and figure out what Alienware did to make you this upset but then I realised you have always been like this so no matter.

I agree they are way overpriced but not every aspect of them are bad like you make it seem. What makes them noisy? It's the same components put together by someone else... just my thoughts, don't want to argue, I just don't like when something gets badmouthed for the wrong reasons.

Exactly. You can hardly call a 3.2ghz QX6700 "low speed".

I've never really liked Alienware. Other companies such as Voodoo have had the QX6700 - overclocked if you want - for a while now. Heck, I'd take an XPS over an Alienware right now. Their new cooling system looks pretty sweet, if not a bit gimmicky.
