I am looking to get an Alienware X51 and when I started to look at all of the options available I discovered you could get the mid grade option with a 760 with 1.5gb ram. I have only ever seen as 760 with at least 2gb so is this a downgraded version? and if so by how much? Thanks

It is not downgraded at all, simply an OEM model with stock cooling and clock. It could be considered downgraded from an EVGA "superclocked" edition of the same card but you will notice little difference in performance either way. As for price differences, since it is an OEM card there is no available price for it.

Regarding the 1.5 gb memory, that is most likely a 2 gb card with 512 mb disabled as to make the option of the 670 with 2 gb look more appealing and upsell you on it. If you want my opinion the 760 is a much better deal then the 670.

i'm thinking its a rebranded gtx 660 oem. the 660 oem came with 1152 cuda cores and 1.5gb memory. it may have changed names to 760 oem. very little info about it right now. if my guess is right its still a respectable 1080p card, just not 760 level. also the $250 difference alienware charges for the upgrade from 760 to 670 is a little give away.
