Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3450 processor (3.1GHz Quad Core, 6MB cache, with Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 up to 3.5GHz)
Operating system: Genuine Windows 8® Home (English), 64-bit
Memory (RAM): 8GB dual channel DDR3 (1600MHz)
Storage (hard drive): 1TB SATA (7200RPM, 3Gb/s, 16MB cache)
Optical drive: Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BD-ROM, DVD+RW, CD-RW)
Video graphics: 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640
Audio: Internal High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio with Waves MaxxAudio®

I want to upgrade to a new graphics card. I'm thinking about a Sapphire Radeon 7850 2gb. Will this work? If not what is the best card to get for under $300.

I don't think that you can upgrade the graphics card in that dinky little thing. It's the size of a console platform! I read that it only has a 330W power supply so you're pretty much screwed. The nVidia GT 545 is as good as you're going to get in that thing. And to think, Dell calls this piece of garbage a "gaming monster". LMAO

I want to upgrade to a new graphics card. I'm thinking about a Sapphire Radeon 7850 2gb. Will this work? If not what is the best card to get for under $300.

I currently have a Gigabyte 660GTX OC inside my X51. I swapped the original 660 that was in there for the 660 OC that was in my daughters desktop. (Cooler, quieter, and faster) It fit in there perfectly and runs fine, just don't overclock the GPU any farther or you'll have issues, spoken from experience.

Beyond that, I am looking around right now for the absolute best GPU that the X51 can fit and power on a 330w power supply. Right now, it looks like the GTX 760, but seeing as the power requirements on the 7-Series cards are higher than the 6-Series, I'm not sure that a 10-15% FPS increase is worth the upgrade price.

I'm also considering this card, as I believe it would work with the X51 R1 for power consumption as it only has a 10w greater draw (150w Stock 660 vs 160w Mini 670) than the stock card.

they can run on the limited 330w power supply
