So my old 760 ti (oem) just died, and I decided to upgrade to this 1060 6Gb (https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1060-amp-edition#spec).

I was just wondering if the PSU would be able to run it correctly considering its 330 Watt (the PSU).
If theres anything else that I maybe overlooked or should consider pls leave an aswer, everything is welcome.

THANKS!!!

Now, before you decide on the 1060, blower or not, you need to realize that the x51 r2 has a power supply that runs 330W maximum, and a 1060 requires at the very minimum 350W. Before you spend that money on this card, consider a 1050. I have successfully upgraded to a GTX 1050 with no problems at all, it was as easy as taking the old card out, putting the new one in and making sure the drivers were up to date. took me 20 minutes max. Excellent quality card, much less power needed.

yes the gtx 1060 is the best gpu you can safely use with your system

however you need to get the blower version, as the cooling is pretty terrible inside that case

XD

too bad for you the gtx 1060 runs fine on the 330w power brick, no point in getting a much worse card

Give it a while, you'll see a substantial difference as it runs on only 330W

well documented, so no difference regardless of time

you are misinformed

Normally I wouldn't recommend a 330W PSU for a 1060 either but if Alienware included a 760 Ti in that computer and it ran fine a 1060 should be okay too. The 760 Ti has a TDP of 170W. The 1060 is more efficient at 120W. Since the 1060 actually uses less power than the card the Alienware came with I wouldn't worry too much about it.
