Alienware X51 to a new case

I'm really thinking about putting my X51 to a new case, i know i was stupid to buy it and but i didn't have anybody that could help me build one. anyways i know i'm probably going to be able to salvaged only the processor, the ram, and the hard drive. i know i need a new PSU and that's what i want to do for new Cards. what i want to know is what kind of motherboard should i get, that's what i need help on because i know that's the main thing i'll need to do is buy one and i don't know what i should get. thanks for your time and please tell me more on what i should do. all the advice i could get would help.

alienware can handle the 1070, just buy a psu to replace it, people have done it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJBwdBZzySs

you can replace the psu EASILY, but you need to open it up and disconnect the Current cables and put the psu in, which would need a new case, OR you need to remove the disk drive.
Need more details regarding your X51 to really help you.

I think the X51 is always an LGA1151 board though, meaning you'd prolly want to get a z170 motherboard, and case to fit it.

What makes you think you can't use your existing motherboard? Should be fine...
 


i just updated it, and everybody says the motherboard can't handle more then a 330 Watt PSU

 


i already know that, what i'm asking is what motherboard should i get. the PSU can not handle anything higher cards. i know i'm going to have to replace them both
