hi guys, I was playing batman arkham knight on ultra high setting without any issues but 4-5 days ago it started to lag a lot first i thought that it was games problem because the pc port of arkham knight was not well optimised. Later i found that all of the games in my pc were lagging(global offensive, serious sam 3, gta 4, grid 2 etc). They ran flawlessly for 2-3 minutes but after that they started lagging a lot. These used to run flawlessly on ultra setting and now they lag a lot even on lowest possible settings. So i opened the task manager and found that my disk usage was 100% and thought that the this was causing the problem so i tried a lot of fixes but none worked and finally i reinstalled windows on my pc , disc usage problem was fixed but the games were still lagging the same way .
so plz help me friends

my system specs
CPU - intel core i5 4460
GPU - Asus nvidia geforce gtx 960 4gb
RAM - 8gb 1600 mhz
HDD - 1tb 7200 rpm
MotherBoard - Gigabyte GA-B85M

Solution
98 is WAY too hot, I advise getting a CPU Cooler (preferably water). You can also try to apply new thermal paste (make sure you'ver rubbed the rubbing alcohol on the CPU before re-applying.)
Thanks for the reply
I used speedfan gor temperatures
GPU - 47 when idle
Temp 1 - 40
Temp 2 - -(minus)128
Temp 3 - 91
Hd0 - 37
Temp 1 -28
Temp 2 - 30
Core 0 - 96
Core - 98
All these are in Celsius
And it is only showing two cores thogh my CPU is quad core

More than likely, yes. But the CPU temperature seems the most probable cause of your performance issues. Lowering your CPUs temperatures would come first anyways, and if there are still performance issues, we can deal with that.

But let's see if the temps are not the issue, 98°C is extremely hot and can thermal throttle your CPU.

technical issues are way too complicated at times to get a straight answer...we have to work through each and every hardware serially to locate the source of the issue...follow Bakua's instructions to start with and get rid of the cpu as the source for lagging...conform to this thread(http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/360490-28-best-thermal-paste-lowest-temps) to get a gud thermal paste...
also...clean ur gpu for dust accumulation...specially the fans...also try to update ur vbios if required... http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2288384/upgrade-gpu-bios.html

I applied thermal paste and temperatures are now 35-50 when idle and max 60 under load.
thanks for your help and yes games are running flawlessly again
