all icons gone.

I have a friend that turned on his PC one day and all the icons were gone on his desk top. Has anyone experienced this before. Thanks

Only icons right, not the task bar?

Try right clicking on the desktop - arrange icons by - show desktop icons. Make sure this has a check by it.

Tried that. It is checked. They turned it off one night and it was fine, The next morning the desk top was empty. The task bar is fine. All the programs work. Is this one of these weird windows icon cleaning acts?
