All-in-One Desktop Compatibility

I have an all-in-one desktop. If I wanted to take it apart, replace the singular CPU with a quad-core one, then run it again, would it be safe or should I just save up for one with a tower?

If that AIO was offered with a quad core then you potentially could run a quad but you'd most likely need to upgrade the cooling solution and power supply board as well.
