It's Nov and I'm amazed this problem is still alive and well. I have a black screen of death NO mouse or logo. I've tried many suggestions listed but no luck. No luck to alt, control, delete; alr, control esc; unplugging; blind password steps. I want to try the hdmi suggestion, but I have an all in one and not sure what to do. Windows 10 was on my system for 5 months wo issue, but updated itself yesterday and boom. Blackness. Any suggestions?

Perform sfc / scannow and see if the issue is alleviated.

When you mention Windows 10 being on your system for 5 months, what OS were you running prior? If an older version then did you perform an upgrade or a clean installation of Windows 10?

I fail to understand why you just didn't do a System Restore to a time before the update.

Updates are a problem with Win 10. Many times several Restores and redo Updates before they take.
