All mice get 'driver installed unsuccessfully' error message.

The problem arose today when I was cleaning my desk. I unplugged the mouse to get it out of the way and now when I plug it back in it displays that error message. Everybody is telling me to reinstall the drivers, but I can't even click on on anything so I can't do any of that stuff.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Solution
Restart Windows and try the mouse again.

You can bring up the shutdown menu by pressing the Windows key.
Then press the right arrow key twice to bring up the options.
Then press the down arrow key to highlight 'Restart'
Then press the <Enter> key.
