Just as prefix, I've had Windows 10 for months now, so it's not an issue with swapping OS'

Today, randomly, while I was about to direct message someone on Twitter, I went into my downloads folder and BOOM, nothing is there. I thought it was a glitch but I checked the folder from the File Explorer and everything is gone. All my photos, GFX, work, audio, all gone. hours of work just disappeared. I have searched across lots of websites (including this one) and have no found a fix. Does anyone know what I can do?

right click the folder and choose properties, location tab
Is the location right? If you had it set to map to another drive, it may have reset to defaults?

Did you check in the recycle bin?

Did you run a search on PC for a known file name?

Okay I did this and clicked "set to default now it's another folder but still all my files are gone so this isn't it. Actually doing this removed the file 100 percent completely so now there is no chance of recovering it :/

no

i noticed it was 6 years old after i posted it...

that is interesting, the download folder doesn't seem to be in the c/users/username folder, that is a pain as I was hoping it wold be

Did you try a restart? might be a glitch still

here are some suggestions: http://windowsreport.com/my-files-folders-disappeared-windows-10/

Try right clicking folder, properties, previous versions tab. maybe if you lucky there is one there you can roll back to.

I have never seen folders just disappear before but looking around it happened about a year ago. Had you ever moved its location before? Was it on C or D drive?

I wouldn't use downloads folder, I would use Onedrive instead as then its on their servers as well. Or at least a folder that is included in your user folder so its location is known.

Try system restore (i think that previous versions tab may use restore points so if you don't have to choose from above, this may not work either)
go to settings/update & security/recovery - under advanced start up, click restart PC now
this loads blue menu system
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose system restore
choose a date, hopefully not too long ago
PC will roll back to then and maybe your folders be back.

wait a minute Disk Drive worked, I found the files, but they're going to charge me 50 dollars to get them, rip. the other programs I used didn't work. sigh.
