I'm using an ASUS X553M laptop running windows 8. Its a lower end computer so it has low specs like 2gigs of ram. Last week I was trying to play a game that is a bit heavy on it (Crysis 2) with low settings. I have played this game also its slow but it did play although loading can take a minute or two so this time it just didn't respond for an unusually long time so I decided to hard shut it down with the power button. I lit it back up and it randomly updated, no wifi so it can't possibly have downloaded updates. When it was done everything I tried to click on on my desktop says ”the application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." I have tried to use the command it also fails to run. I'm a pc noob so I don't know what application log is or how to get to it and I'm not even sure if its gonna work coz I read that it can also fail and you have to do some really complicated stuff that I don't even know where to start with. Even the windows 8 tiles do not work. No music or movies or anything. I thought maybe if it updated again it would be fine coz I read if its updates are incomplete it can cause this problem but still nothing.
