All of my computer games keep on crashing

hey there i was wondering if anybody can help me. my computer games keep on crashing ever since i downloaded sanctum on steam. at first sanctum crashes then when i played my other games they keep on crashing too. either when it enters a cutscene or when im 10 mins into the game it crashes to black screen even when i have it on windowed screen.

my computer is a self build so my motherboard is an ultra durabale 3 motherboard ep45-ud3lr,
3454MB RAM,
my gpu is NVIDIA GeForce GT 430,
my cpu is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
my psu is RS 500 PCAR A3
my OS is windows XP

i updated everything ever since the crash and it still crashes :/ i was wondering if it has to do with my directX. my nvidia system information says my directX runtime is 9.0c but theres another one that says my directX supports 11. it used to support 10 before but it changed when i installed sanctum. heres the report from my dxdiag. thank you for your time :C hope you can help me

First off go back in and edit your DIAG and Delete eveything up the title of Sound Devises. Evrything below that title is useless garbage. It just takes up space. Now can get down to business.

Have you gone in steam and fix your Verify integrity of game cache? Are all your games from steam? I will give a step by step how to do that just incase you don't. So here it is.

Open up Steam left click on games then left click on view libary right click on your game then left click on properties then left click on local files then left click on Verify integrity of game cache.

Once you click on that it will begin to down load some files once it has stoped then try your game and see if it still crashs. If it does let us know and we will go from there.

well i only play like 1-3 games on steam, i mainly play starcraft 2 and tribes ascended but they seem to crash too, hoping to play diablo 3 if i get this fix.

anyways i did everything on steam and it still crashes on me :S trying to think back about what i downloaded cause this never happened before and the last thing i did was installing sanctum. their auto updates for my computer were windows VC redist and windows directX if i recall, not sure if its the caused of all this though.

Does this happen as soon as you start playing or does it come on after you are playing for a while? Are you checking your temps? when was the last time you took a can of air and cleaned out your PC?

I ask all these questions. It narrows it down a bit to look for other problems. One thing you are using hardwear that in some places would not be gaming hardwear But I have a GT 430 in one of my Dells.

And I can do some gaming with it. Let me know the answers that I have asked for now.

it crashes when im playing for awhile. i cleaned my computer 2 weeks ago and just now today too. heres the temperature, i posted this awhile ago and when i checked my CPUID HWmontior its about the same

EDIT: i also scanned my computer last night in safemode with both malwarebytes antimalware and superantispyware, nothing came up. i looked up my taskmanager to see if theres any programs running that i havent seen before and i only found one. updater.exe :/ not sure if its safe or not, keep on hearing mixed message

Are those temps in idle or under load? If they are on idle your GPU is running hot. If your temps get over 80c then you will have crashs to desktops or very bad laging.

Even if it states max how could it know when the game is not running? Just so we can rule out the temps I would like you to do a few things and it will require you to down load stuff that is free.

One is MSI Afterburner and it user manual. It will show your temps while running the game and FPS as well plus it will allow you to set fan speed as the temps rise.

Next one is MSI Kombustor so you can stress test your GPU to see if you can get it to recreate the crash. Then there is Memtest 86+ to check if you have a ram problem.

repost when you get done but I probley won't be on here untill tomorrow and I will get back to you then. So good luck with this and I hope we find the problem.

this is all in idle :/ is there something i can do to fix it? will post the reports

EDIT: ok started up a game, gpu temp jumped from 60 to almost 100c then it crashed :S even if i clean it again, will it be back to normal? if not should i get another gpu?

Is your fans working on the GPU? Do you have a big case or are you using the normal case you buy from a store? What I mean by normal is H= 14"x W= 7"x L= 16". If this is the case then not enough air flow.

But first check your fan on the GPU and make sure it is running. If it is then take out the card and really blow it out. If the fan isn't working some card you can replace just the fan but others you will have to replace the heat sink along with the fan.

In which you will have to buy the thermal paste along with the cooler, or you could just buy another GPU. But you don't want to get another GT 430 since it really isn't a gaming card.

If you buy the cooler plus gan is going to cost around about $60.00 and that is what your card cost brand new. So I would recomend a better GPU. I will link you to two GPU's that will work with what you have.

This way you won't get a card the will bottleneck your system. I don't know what part of the world you hail from but I will link you to the US based store and it will give you an idea what you are looking for.

I am sorry that you have this problem but it seems that heat these days are PC killers. One more tid bit. If the fan on the GPU is running try setting it with the MSI afterburner so it speed up when the temps go up.

Then check if it helps. If not then back to looking for a new GPU. But for now untill you can get another one you can use a house fan to blow into the case for now but monitor the temps while gaming. Let me know whats up and good luck.

Oh I forgot if your case is a slimline or smaller then the numbers I stated above then you will have to get a lowprofile card so the links show both kinds of cards.

I guess this is the only low profile card that is better than your GT 430. If your case can handle a normal card then I will still link you to them as well. The AMD HD 6670 is the best you can go with.

yea my fan is working, i downloaded MSI afterburner and tried to increase the fan speed which didnt do much but kept the temp to at least 90-95 degrees when i started up a game. anyways my case is 17.5H 7W and 19L, if theres anything wrong with that

anyways thanks for your help man, ill keep this in mind :)

Here are the some of the links HEXiT has suggested. I know HEXiT and he is 97% right on the money. So go ahead and give this a try, you never know it might just be the fix.

I got the links in the order that was given and it will add better time so you don't have to run all over the web if you choose to do this. If you have the time it might save you a $100.00 for a new card if this is the problem.

Anyway I hope this does the fix. Another way you can find out if it is your system to take your card now and plug into another rig or barrow a card and put it in your rig to see if you get the same problem. Good luck and please let us know if any of this fixs the problems. Good luck

sorry here, what am i downloading again? i got ccleaner, s&d and kinda confused with the other 3, is speedy PC pro the same thing with the 3rd and 4th link? sorry again kinda new at this, i only use malwarebytes and superantispyware but they both havent picked up anything lately, even in safe mode.

EDIT: is speedy pc pro also safe? i've been hearing alot of things about it how it doesnt work and all :S

So after you did all that your temps are still to high? Well there is only two things left to do and one is that you will have to go buy some thermal paste and take apart your GPU.

Then add the paste to where the heat sink touchs the GPU chip. You will see what needs to be done when you take it a part. or you can get a new GPU and install it and check the temps on it.

The good news you can have a 6770 or a 7770 you can use either one with out bottlenecking. I will link you to them. Other than that I don't know what else can be wrong. I will have to reread all this incase I missed something. Good luck and please let us know what you are doing. Thanks

6770 vs 7770 The 6770 and the 5770 are the same card in fact you can crossfire them to gether. They are the only cards you can CF them.

hmm i could try out thermal paste first. also the last gpu you recommended for me, is that still a good option or do you think the xfx6770 is highly recommended?

This one the XFX6770. It will work with out bottlenecking your CPU and you don't have to worry about a lowprofile card so yes it is highly recommended.

You will be so shocked the difference in graphics will stand out and you will ask yourself why you didn't do this before. That is if you choose to buy a new card.

The thermal compound should only be about around $10.00 you want the good stuff I think it is called Artic something.

you should not be running such a decent computer on xp with dx9.c atleast dx11 it connot simply use any power or graphics, ur graphics card is dx11 keep up get of xp

your gt430 with ur 2.8ghz, i had the same problem only i upgraded from intel pentium dual e2160 (low) and a hd radeon 2400pro with 2gb ram and media center 2005xp,i got rid of media center purely for the fact i wasn't using what i paid for, it was going to waste so i upgraded to 2.8ghz e7400 with a gt430 and 3gb windows 7 ultimate, i have no problems now on windows 7 latest drivers, DirectX 11, 3D Vision, CUDA, PhysX tecnology in that geforce unleash
