I built my new pc like 2.5 weeks ago and I've been having this issue where sometimes when I'm playing games the game will crash to desktop with a graphics driver failure and I have tried rolling back drivers, clean driver install with DDU and I've even went as far as to do a complete windows install deleting all data and everything. I also ran a userbenchmark while making this thread and it is saying that everything is in working order.

PC Specs:
Motherboard: Asrock b450m pro4
CPU: Ryzen 3 3200g no OC
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600mhz 2x8 16gb kit
Storage: Samsung 980 1tb M.2 SSD
GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1080
PSU: Corsair CX 750m

Edit: I also so just reseated Ram and GPU as well as check all psu connections to insure that they are all plugged in properly and cleared the cmos and still the issue persists.

Temps seem normal in Furmark.
Are you getting that same error in other games?

I googled "274 fatal d3d error". This is one of the articles I found: https://respawnfirst.com/monster-hunter-rise-fatal-application-exit-fix/

"Monster Hunter Rise PC players are experiencing Fatal Application Exit error at launch or renderdevicedx12.cpp Fatal D3D error and are unable to play the game. Here is how to fix these errors.

Try verifying the game files and it’ll download a small file. Players have reported that doing this has fixed the Fatal D3D Error.

Your GPU is probably causing the Fatal Application Exit error or Fatal D3D error. Either the GPU is overclocked or it isn’t handling the game’s load really well.

If the GPU is...
Could indeed be the GPU, if not, possibly the PSU, seems to be on the budget end for a 1080, modern AM4 MB & CPU.

Plus likely won't OC the GPU enough for gaming. I recommend 80+ Gold for this task. Here's a review from Tom's on the PSU. More cons than pros.

The PSU is the most important part of any PC build, many enthusiasts has been saying so for as long back as I can remember.

I have been running furmark for 11 minutes so far temps are sitting at around 78 and from I read online most people have been getting temps sitting at 80-85 degrees under intense gaming loads

Your GPU is probably causing the Fatal Application Exit error or Fatal D3D error. Either the GPU is overclocked or it isn’t handling the game’s load really well.

If the GPU is overclocked, revert it to its default GPU clock. In case the GPU isn’t overclocked then you can try lowering the graphics settings or use MSI Afterburner and start reducing the GPU clock by 50 MHz. If by 200 Mhz the Fatal Application Exit error doesn’t go away, then there is no point in reducing it any further.

Alternatively, players can cap the game’s max FPS to fix potentially fix the Monster Hunter Rise Fatal Application Exit error. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Setigns > select Moisnter Huter Rise. Enable the Max FPS limit and set a value for it. It’s going to be trial and error to find at which value the game stops crashing. However, as a general rule, if your current target is unlocked FPS, then cap the game to 60 FPS. In case your current target is 60 FPS, then cap the game to 30 FPS. Doing this reduces the GPU and CPU load and will fix the Monster Hunter Rise Fatal Application Exit error.

As for the renderdevicedx12.cpp Fatal D3D error in Moonster Hutner Rise, there is a potential fix that might work. Since the error is caused by DX 12, players can try to force the game to use DirectX 11. However, I am not sure if the game supports DX 11 but, it’s worth a try. Right-click Monster Hunter Rise in Steam > Properties > type -dx11 under Launch Options and hit OK. Launch the game and the Fatal D3D error will be fixed."

Is your GPU overclocked? Did you overclock it?

No I haven't overclocked it

I should also mention that mention I have tried other gpus in my system. Before my 1080 arrived I had my girlfriends old gtx 950 in my system and was having the same problem and then I tried her current card which is a gtx 1050 and was having the same issues I’m starting to think that it is either a psu problem or a software issue
