All programs load my hdd on 100% at start up

Every time i start any program on my pc, it loads my hardrive on 100%. Is this normal? I don't remember having this issue before. (Operating system: Win 8.1; HDD WD10EZEX)

It sounds like it could be.

When you start any program, it generally loads whatever it needs to into memory....pretty much as fast as it can.

I think this is what you might be seeing.

This shouldn't last very long though....a few seconds to a minute max and that's stretching it.
