All Sound drivers wiped

Hi
Yesterday i installed a new m5a78l-m/usb3 mobo and also the R9 380 GPU to my system. Here's a quick spec list

• 
  amd 6core am3 cpu
  m5a78l-m/usb3
  R9 380 4gb
  650 w power supply
  8gb

On restart, the sound would only come through the hd monitor. I checked the drivers , and only the hdmi drivers were available. And then i plugged the headphones into the jack, nothing could be heard.
I checked the drivers and they were all gone?

I did all the updates and gave windows a chance to retrieve them. No avail

i do not have a optical drive , and couldn't run the mobo chipset install, but i gathered that windows 8.1 would do this itself?

To install the amd driver, i had to transfer the cd contents onto usb and do it that way

has anybody else had this issue with the R9 380 4gb?
i've even recovered the pc to pre install and im still having the same issue

Have you gone into the Playback Devices list and seen what is available? To get there, right-click on the speaker icon in your icon corral (right end of the toolbar).
