So up until last week I used my pcs usbs to power my audio interface, pc controller, mouse and keys usb and Bluetooth adapter.

I bought a usb power fan which can run and charge at the same time.

Everything was going great then out of nowhere the lights started flashing on my audio interface. and the controller... I disconnected and this continued to happed... I even removed the fan which had also stopped working and I deemed the cause I've never had any issues prior to getting it.

Then overtime the flashing stopped and nothing was getting enough power to work.

I can still use my key and mouse usb and the Bluetooth usb… but anything that requires a lot of power just doesn't light up at all.

This is both when used on the back usb and the front of the pc usbs.

any idea whats went wrong ? could it be fixed or am I looking at needing a usb powered hub.

thanks.

Hello

Can you please share what troubleshooting steps have you taken thus far?

Can you please try checking for any BIOS and USB driver updates?

You may also want to Clear CMOS and see if it helps.

If nothing works, you may want to check if the PSU is generating enough power?

Feel free to report back for any further assistance.

Cheers!!

according to any programs and scanning my device manager everything is up to date and no issues.

I read the clear cmos seems a bit technical for me ? is it like jump starting a car ?

how do I check the psu ?

This is all started when the usb fan was plugged in and running like it drew too much power.

another update it all seems tied to my audio interface.... when I plug the controller in Microsoft one it lights up solid and works... however once I plug my audio interface in both the controller and audio interface start to flash...

There is also a constant flickering in notifications like it wants to install but is disconnecting quicker than its got the chance to read.... I know its not the interfaces hardware that's an issue as it works fine on my other pc.

I thought it could be the driver but I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling countless times.

Im thinking it could still be a power issue as when I borrowed my brothers usb adapter powered hub and used it to power the interface it worked.....

So its linked to the interface and using my pcs usb hubs..... thoughts ?

What's your interface? Sometimes having phantom power (check for a +48V switch on your interface!) on can cause this, especially if the unit is bus-powered. Would definitely explain why the problem goes away when using a powered USB hub.

so another update.... I can use my audio interface and controller if both are plugged into the front usb ports... however only the controller works on the ones at the back... the audio interface just keeps blinking and trying to connect constantly....

Something weird is going on... because my controller randomly freezes up.. and the buttons all get jumbled.. shoot becomes jump... start becomes crouch etc... then it will start working out of nowhere.
