almost all games often "suddenly stopped working"

Hi,

I've recently bought pc parts and put them together for my new pc, but quickly a lot of problems started popping up: Almost every game crashes or "... stopped working" and then I have to click "close program", so most of my games just don't work how they should.
This happens with a lot of games: GTA 5, Dark Souls 3 but also with games that shouldn't at all be hard to play on this pc like Rome Total War 1 and Fortnite (it crashes on epic and high video settings, not on medium, but since fortnite is early acces it could be something else)

My specs:
Processor: AMD ryzen 5 1400
Graphics card: GTX 1060 6 gb
Motherboard: Gigabyte AB350-GAMING
memory: 8gb Ballistix Sport LT - DDR4
Storage: Seagate HDD 1 TB (ST1000DM004 if that's of importance)
Power supply: 450W

If anyone knows what the problem is, I would really appreciate help :)

Btw, there is 1 game that doesn't have any problems running: League of Legends, but that is as far as I know really the only one

When you built the new PC, did you continue to use your old Windows installation or did you perform a full clean installation of the operating system on the hard drive?

Have you performed a clean install of the graphics card drivers after removing the old drivers using the DDU in safe mode? (Important. MUST be done in safe mode to remove all old files and registry settings)

450w does not tell us anything of importance about your power supply. What is the exact model number and how long has it been in service?

But could the power supply make the games stop working without making the pc stop?

Sure. A weak power supply can cause graphics errors, or any kind of problem, including corrupted display, dropped frames, driver errors or simply full blue screen crashes, or even just resetting the whole system. Anything that any component could do, the power supply can also make it do.

Have you tried doing a clean install of the graphics card drivers using the DDU? Regardless that the system is "new" it's still advisable.

I'll try the installation this evening. Hopefully it works, if not I'll maybe buy another power supply.
Can the crashes caused by the power supply do harm to anything else in the pc? Or does it crash without any consequences?

Anytime there is a problem with a power supply there is POTENTIAL for risk to other hardware. It doesn't mean that other hardware WILL be harmed, and much depends on the quality of the build and what protections the unit has, but if voltage is out of spec or ripple is at a high level, certainly other hardware can be harmed.

I did the installation but I haven't played anything else than Fortnite :/ I'll give an update as soon as I'll play a different game :)
In the meantime, if the power supply is the problem, which power supply would you recommend me to buy?

By the way, it seems that starting up my pc takes quite a while. Not booting windows but the screen can stay off for ages after my pc has started. Could this be an indication to the power supply not being decent or anything else?
