I want to order everything at one time if possible.
I think this site has the best and brightest techies helping, so I'm using what
I consider the best recommondations from here.
Thanks for all the help.

Agreed I would go for a samsung spinpoint F3 myself, or others like the seagate 7200.12s but I suppose if it's cheap enough and only used for storage then that's fine.

If that memory is a cas7 or better set then I don't see anything wrong with the list.

Thank hunter, I feel better about spending that much coin knowing that others with more knowledge then I actually approve. I was itching to hit the enter key this morning at Newegg. But I really don't want to return parts due to my lack of knowledge.
Thanks again

Wow I'm about to hit the buy button on almost the exact same system!

Intel i7 930
ASUS P6X58D
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 SDRAM
XFX HD-587X-ZNFC RADEON HD 5870
Intel X25-M SSDSA2MH080G2R5 2.5" 80GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB HD
LG Blu-ray Model WH10LS30 OEM
Windows 7 OEM
XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V 120mm CPU Cooler
Antec CP-850 850W Power Supply
Antec P183 case.

I've bolded the differences, lets discuss (prices in Canadian $)

- G.Skill vs Corsair, is there really any difference? The G.skill has a CAS latency of 7 and is $183
- Intel X25M I've only heard good things and 80gb is enough for me and its on sale for $214.99USD (not sure if I can ship to Canada)
- 1TB is enough for me and seagate vs WD again..prob no difference. $89.99
- I can't find your blue ray model on newegg. I have the WH10LS30 for $169
- Cpu cooler I prob don't even need but I may overclock slightly.
- 850W should be enough ($140)
- My friend has the p183 and the quality blew me away. $169 is a lot for a case but I plan to keep it for a while.

My total is $2,284.40 without the usd price for the ssd.

*facepalm*

The GTX 480 won't be really reliable for a while yet, you always want to wait a while for all the kinks in a new card to get worked out. Plus, he could also get an HD 5970 which is even better than the GTX 480! Of course that would be another $100 over the GTX 480, which is another $100 over the HD 5870.
