So, two nights ago, I took my lvl 71 necro back to normal after I read a
post over at the phrozenkeep CEmod forum about this place under Nihlothek.
So far, after playing for a couple of 5-6 hour sessions, I am down to
dungeon level 16 out of 17. That is after you 'do' the Halls of Pain and
Vaught. I skipped past the four 'side' levels that are off of levels 9-12
since it is taking so long to get each level done, especially in these
lower levels, there are bodies everywhere - you can't even see the floor
in places. Besides the time it takes for 'da boys' to kill everybody off,
it takes another 3 minutes just to 'hork' them all looking for those
loverly egg eggs. Love those 'special' potions, Odgen is my newest best
bud, with Griswold, Pepin, Adria, and the rest not far behind.
There is supposed to be a big bad boss at the end that gives up an item
that gives you 5 mil exp, which would not really help my current character
much since he needs about 28 mil to get to his next level, but I plan on
saving it for my trapsin who is only up to level 30 so far.
The monsters are very plentiful, but do get mowed down pretty easy by 'da
boys' now, so I think that tonight after finishing this dungeon I will try
that level 7 area again.
Levels 1-4 are like jail levels
Levels 5-8 are like ... err... I forget
Levels 9-12 are like ice cavern / ancients way type
Level 13-16 are like Halls of Pain type
I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I came upon the first 'side'
dungeon entrance, since they are in the ice cavern type of areas, the
portals look like the ones to the icy river area where you rescue Anya.
When you hover your mouse over the portal thingy it says, and I quote, "To
a Nasty Place".

Geez Art, thanks for the report. I didn't even dare to go into the
dungeon and I had no idea it was so many levels. I guess it's smart to
wait until you level your char up considerably to get down there. I
guess there aren't any WP's there, so how do you get back to where you
left off, or do you just keep the game running? I'm at clvl49 now and I
haven't really been able to get back to the game. Still unpacking from
the move. But I'll wait for a while to go back there. I still need to
get to the Butcher in Normal. Let us know if you get any really great
drops. Sounds like the adventure is worth it tho for experience.

Explain this to me please. I don't know how to start a new character at a
higher level.

TIA

Right click on the D2 icon on your desktop and click on 'properties - hit
the right arrow key to un-highlight that first line and then add a space
after what is there and then add -act5 (dash-A-C-T-5, no spaces), click
ok, now when you restart the game click on single player and then new
character. When it starts you will be in Harrogath but the first 4 acts
are not 'done' so the only thing that shows up in the WP menu is the Rogue
Camp. Don't forget to take it (-act5) back out of the command line after
you exit the game so that next time it can/will start 'normally'.

Many thanks my friend. I'll be trying this very soon.
