What are the specs to your current system? List them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

I don't see any need to get anything else(as it stands) or even a newer platform if you're already working with i5-7600K. Mind sharing the details of your intended tasks?

Also,
Already have i5 7600k. Should I get i5 7600k
your thread's title is very confusing, did you buy the i5-7600K or are you going to buy it?

Sorry i was writing on mobile. Now writing on pc.

Me spec:

CPU: Intel i5 7600k
GPU: Gigabyte gets 1050 ti.
MOtherboard: Gigabyte b350m(I actually don’t have the box anymore so it can be better)
Ram: 8GB
HDD: 1 TB
PSU: 350 watts
Chassis: Earlcase deepcool. I don’t remember the name but its a nice case with TG side panels.
OS: Windows 10

First off, I would consider getting a better PSU than what you have listed for the build your doing, second, I would suggest keeping the 7600k because upgrading that to a 1700 wont be much value for what gains you will get for that.

Just to clear the confusion, the spec above is my current one. Im going to upgrade all of them. If i can save money on the cpu, I will buy the viotek24cn, the 24 inch 144hz monitor.

Im going to upgrade to the evga's cheapest 2070 which is 500$.
The Psu will be upgraded as well. I will get a 550w or 650w (depends on spare money after the build.) power supply. Not only these but i will upgrade all of my components.
To say that I will spend 1000$ is not fair. I will spend at maximum 1200$. 200$ for the monitor.

But the question remains is if i keep the i5, will it bottleneck the rtx 2070?

I mostly play fortnite competitively. I play on stretched resolution and everything on low. I get 120ish fps.

I am upgrading mostly to play thee newer titles. For example shadow of the tomb raider, red dead redemption(upcoming) etc etc. I will also replay the games i have now. I have a lot of games that i had to play in low or medium, some in high. So this is why im upgrading.
