My power supply had a sheet of plastic covering about half the bottom of the fan for the power supply. After about 2 weeks of use, the fan on the power supply started contacting the plastic and made an annoying ticking sound. Is it alright to remove this plastic? I've looked around and apparently the plastic is to direct air flow. Will my psu stay cool without it?

I would not recommend opening a power supply. A lot of the components inside are seriously dangerous.

If you're dead set on opening it up the plastic might have just slipped - see if it will fit properly in place before removing it entirely?

When you open your power supply you will void the warranty. I would contact the vendor you got the power supply or case/power supply from and see if they will exchange it for you. I wouldn't open the unit unless you know you way around those components they can be very dangerous.

Just to clarify, I've already removed the plastic from inside the power supply. I just need to know if it will be alright to keep it removed. The piece of plastic is a rectangular plastic sheet about 2 inches wide and 5 inches long.

It is a Sentey 625 watt psu (XPP625-PS). I've been feeling the air flow coming from the exhaust on the psu and it seems cool.

'seems cool' means nothing. Actual temps, before and after is the measurement.
