How does this sound.
x you have very little or no mystical heritage
maximum possible essence = 1
* 1/32 demon, exalt, fae, god, or ghost
maximum possible essence = 2
6 additional bonus points and may take 10 pts of flaws
** 1/16 demon, exalt, fae, god, or ghost
maximum possible essence = 3
12 additional bonus points and may take 15 pts of flaws
*** 1/8 demon, exalt, fae, god, or ghost
maximum possible essence = 4
18 additional bonus points and may take 15 pts of flaws
**** 1/4 demon, exalt, fae, god, or ghost
maximum possible essence = 5
24 bonus pts and may take 20 pts of flaws
***** 1/2 demon, exalt, fae, god, or ghost
maximum possible essence = 6.
30 additional bonus pts and may take 20 bonus pts of flaws.
All god-blooded automatically have Dynasty of Inheritance, but will still need
to take Awakened Essence. In terms of breeding, the Inheritance rating of the
two parents 1/2 the sum of their Inheritance rounded down. The primacy of
heritage still is in effect.2nd note, the Good-Blooded Inheritance = 1/2 the
essence rating of the mystical parent, stonger the mystical blood, longer it
persists, and initally with greater stength. So the child of an ancient 1st
age Lunar would be stronger than a child of Essence 2 Demon.

A background. That gives you bonus points.

Right.

That's how it works in the Players Guide. The bonus points have to be
spent on specific things, though.

Yep. Note that Inheritance can't be bought - it's entirely dependent on who
your character's parents were. It's one of those GM-discretion things.

The book says Exalts can buy it like a regular background, though, since
it hurts as well as helps them.

Were you trying to fix what you percieved to be an error in the initial
background, or did you just write this up for shits and giggles? 'Cause
it looks ... er... completely unneccasary, and more (unneccasarily)
restrictive than the one published in the book.

It doesn't make sense in the context of what being god-blooded means,
really. You're saying that the default god-blooded character has a
god/elemental/whatever about six generations back, and that in order to
actually have a god for a parent, you need to spend three background
points and four bonus points.

This defeats the point of having a god-blooded game in the first place.

"BTomlin101"

Intersting, though I prefer the "Inheritance = to the average of your
parent's Essence scores". I also prefer God-Blooded being capped at around
3.

This was all ready a perfectly functional background.

Yes. The original doesn't allow them to be used on other Backgrounds though. But
I think that Liege, which is another official Background that gives you Bonus
Points, does allow them to be used on other Backgrounds.
