Alternative HDD Led Connection?

I've got a Gigabyte K8VT800 Skt 754 Motherboard that works fine except
for ONE thing. The hard drive led is on all the time (there is no
flashing activity). I know the pins are correct and the polarity is ok
too. I can only assume that there is a fault on the mobo.

Question: Is there another place on the mobo I can take a feed off to
give me proper HDD Led activity? Or an alternative way of rigging it?

TIA

Just reverse the plug and see what happens. It won't hurt anything. It sure
does sound like you have a bass ackwards connection.

Reverse the leads and try it again.

I have built a number of computers and I have found the best way to wire up
the HDD LED, PWR LED, etc etc is to look at the manual, ignore it, look at
the motherboard markings at the header for rough guidance and then use trial
and error. I have seen no end of motherboards and manuals where the header
information is incorrect.

Try the connector the opposite way round, are there any adjacent pins free -
if so move the conenctor along a pin and the other way if possible. Other
than that I don't think there is anywhere else to get this signal from and
to be honest how often do you look at the HD LED - I cannot even see mine.

Check the leads from the case's HD LED light to the motherboard. It sounds
like this plug is in a reversed position.

I once had to fit a motherboard with no power indicator LED, go
figure.
