On my new (and first) build someone suggested that I change my graphics card to a MSI radeon RX 480 8GB video card. My question is, is there an alternative that is similar in price and performance or should I stick with it?

My only reason for asking is that Partpicker has no reviews or pictures on it and I have little experience. Also if this is in the wrong forum section, my apologies, can the mods please move it.

Thanks in advance

The 1060 is faster right now
Right now there are only a few dx12 games and barely a game uses more than 6gb VRAM
In a year this might be different and the rx480 could very well outperform the 1060.

The power colour red devil Rx480 gets decent reviews and appears to be a top Rx480
Can't really go wrong with the Asus Strix either.

Would I be better to find a DX12 card or stick with a RX 480? I'm going to mostly use the pc for gaming. Also any suggestions for a RX 480?

both GTX 1060 and RX 480 are DX12 cards.
do whatever you want, just don't by reference RX 480 (that thing that looks the same across all vendors).
You were suggested to pick a GTX 1060 (smart choice) or RX 480 (brainwashed choice).
They are basically perform the same in games.
